How does the system work?

This system is very simple to use. The subscriber wears a discreet portable transmitter, either as a necklace, a wrist band or on a belt clip. When the button the transmitter is pressed, or the button on the console is pressed an audible alarm sounds for about a minute. The transmitter has a reported range of about 600 feet. During this time the console dials into the alarm monitor center.

The alarm center then takes control of the console and turns it into a speakerphone. The manufacturer states the microphone on the console is sensitive to about 125 feet with a normal speaking voice. Staff at the alarm center will ask what services are requested. If you need an ambulance one will be called, if you only need to have some assicance from a friend or neighbor, they will be called for you. When the situation no longer exists, the device resets.

Where can I use the system?

Generally you can yse the system anywhere in North America. This includes Canada too. The system dials an "800" number and the calls are answered in North Hollywood, CA. The device is portable and is great for "snowbirds". Simply fax an updated location and contact list to the monitoring center as you change locations.

What if I no longer need the monitor?

Once you buy the monitor it is yours to keep. You can do it as you please. If you no longer need to have the security of the monitor you can give it to another person in your family or even to a neighbor. Some people give them to their church as a charitable contribution.

There is no cost to another person to start using the device. The monitoring service is all the new user pays for.

Both of my parents can use this system, do I pay for two systems?

No, you do not have to pay for multiple systems. The Linear 2400 PERS unit. can support up to sixteen activator devices. These can be the portible activators such as the wrist or necklace type. Also, smoke detectors are supported as are activity monitors. The monthly monitor fee is the same with one activator or sixteen.
